Yep, I'm back at it.  I think.

Someone is doing a very interesting animated Death Note project, and I thought I would lend my voice.

http://www.box.net/shared/58nulnxnvt

That link has the 5 files I've sent as my audition.  I wasn't absolutely certain which character they are using, so I made samples of each of the male characters involved in the book they're basing the animation on.  (B gets a two-part audition, since he has - at least in my eyes - two sides different enough to warrant it.)

This is exciting!

bears (the animal B|;), rowboats, steampunk, good-luck-charms (one word now gdit), aaaand ... meals.

1) BEARS:  8> I love bears.  Surprisingly, though, I am never asked why.  Thank you for specifying, Levi, that you meant the animal.  This could have gone in a VERY different direction, otherwise. 8D  Bears are...well, they're a lot of things.  They're large, intimidating animals when they are on-guard or angry, but if you catch one before it grows up (to raise as your personal jousting mount), you'll see an adorable cub.  Or if you can sneak up on a bear while he's eating or sleeping or trundling around looking for stuff, you're bound to spout out a 'D'awww' or twelve.  Bears are just cool.

2) ROWBOATS:  Row row row your boat, gently down the stream.  Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily.  Life is but a dream.
Row row row your row your boat gently down the boat gently stream merrily merrily merrily merrily merrily life is merrily but a dream merrily life is but a dream.
That didn't turn out very well, did it?  Why the hell did you give me 'rowboats'?  They're pretty neat, I guess, when they're not filling with water, like a lot of the canoes at school did when we were out on the reservoir for senior rec.  Good way to keep in shape, fast mode of transportation on a flat-watered, clear day, provided you aren't fat or sinking.  Stylish hat.

3) STEAMPUNK:  HNNNNGK. <33  I love me some steampunk.  Its just...delicious, really.  (For those of you so disgustingly out of the know, Steampunk is essentially a modern revival of Victorian aesthetic, particularly in architecture and clothing.  Technologically, its more of a 'dirty' appearance - taking what's available and repurposing it to being your own.  ...that's close enough I guess.  Mmm.)  Dr. Steel.  Also, corsets.  And goggles.

4) GOOD-LUCK-CHARMS:  May God strike you down for your sin.  How dare you use a three-letter name-of-an-object with dashes-in-between-the-words-to-make-it-fit-as-a-single-word.  THIS IS NOT LJ TAGS, LEVI.  THIS IS NOT SOME GAME.  IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK THIS IS?  SOME KIND OF FUN GAME?  NO.  NO, THERE IS MUCH MORE AT STAKE HERE, GOD DAMMIT.
FUCK.

:>

I love you. <3

iiiiiiiiiin any case,
Good luck charms are great.  I think even people who aren't supersticious feel the draw to believe in them at least a little.  What's to hurt from a small piece of memorabilia that makes you feel a little better about everything?  You can disbelieve their effectiveness all you want, but if someone were to offer one to you, I doubt you could refuse without lying to yourself a little, especially if you were about to do something where luck might come in handy.

So even not-so-lucky-good-luck-charms are neat.

5) MEALS:  Way to tell the fat kid to talk about food.  Nawjk.  Meals are good.  I think I prefer a meal over a snack.  Not just because one feeds you more completely, but because there's more pleasure in eating something complete.  I dread breakfast in the morning, because I rarely cook anything, and loathe eating cereal (because its cold milk in a bowl of crunchy stuff.  That, good sir, is not a meal.), so oftentimes I'll just not eat breakfast and be hungrier for lunch, when I can make a sandwich, etc.
My favorite meal ever is chicken gumbo, particularly my mother's recipe.  I always eat too much too fast when we have it, though...every single time.  I really need to learn better.

Hooray, the rest of the meme is to comment with 'Words!' to show your interest, and I'll give you 5 words of your own to rant about.

Bonnie's results came back the other day.  Stage 2.  The vet gives her 2-4 months - she's already showing signs of the cancer remetastacizing.

Just got back from visiting mother in the hospital.  She's not doing well at all - hasn't slept since she woke up from surgery at 1PM yesterday for the pain, except for a nap earlier today and one while we visited.  Doctors are hopeful, though.

Sleep still isn't really happening for me.
Well, no, that's not quite right.  I've slept, but not well, or on any kind of decent schedule.
Got to bed at about 4 this morning, woke up at noon.

Bonnie is home and doing fine, though her sutures have an antiseptic/marking spray which dried metallic and shiny silver, so the sutures are all spiky and sharp-looking.  She's like a Japanese cyberpunk director's dog.  I've been occupying myself with cleaning and taking care of cyber!Bonnie, so...stuff has at least been stable.

I take my placement exams at SWIC this coming Wednesday at 6PM.
Dumbassed as I am, I didn't realize that's also when my mother goes to the hospital for her back surgery.  Well, here's hoping I can keep my mind off of that while I take that test.  I'm anxious to find out how much English I'm skipping. |D

And I'm sorry, but I didn't.
Again.

Bonnie will be taken to the vet this morning.  My older brother and I are taking her to Nashville to drop her off.  She'll stay overnight and come home tomorrow morning at roughly 10.
6th-Jun-2009 06:20 pm - An Update On Bonnie
8|
Well, I got some good news and some bad news today.

The good news is, she'll be going in for surgery on Monday morning.  They'll remove the tumor, send it away to a lab, and she can come home on Tuesday, sans a large chunk from her back.  The University of Illinois is doing the tests, and they'll be back in about six weeks.  I hate this part...with cancer, there's always some kind of wait involved.  I guess I shouldn't complain, though.  At least she is being treated.
The treatment was anticipated (by our regular vet) to cost about $700.  $500 for the treatment, and the other $200 for medication and the various visits. Instead, its all coming out to about $250-$300.  We're having some severe money troubles, so this was a huge relief to my family.

The bad news, however, is that this vet will be unable to do anything for Bonnie if the tumor comes back as a Type 2 or, here's hoping it doesn't happen, a Type 3.  She won't have to be put down that day, but within a short amount of time - before her pain or disability becomes too great.

I was put at ease by the visit.  I learned that Mast-Cell Tumors do not progress based on time, but only based on the cell itself.  That means it doesn't matter how early or late I found that lump on her back.  If it's a Stage 3, it would have been from day one - the same for a Stage 2 or 1.  It means that if I lose this dog, it isn't my fault.

I've scarcely been so relieved.
